Editor’s Note: Below is a first hand account of a birthday party held at Krispy Kreme in San Antonio in 2012! Please reach out to Krispy Kreme for the latest pricing for their birthday party package!
Yesterday we had our son’s 4th birthday party at Krispy Kreme. I know. You’re swooning (admit it). And you’re thinking, “Krispy Kreme? The donut place? With the best donuts ever?” And, suddenly, you’re feeling your blood sugar spiking. You’re imagining chocolate-covered, sprinkle-laced, creme-filled awesomeness. And you’re thinking, “That place hosts birthday parties?”
They do. And, lucky for us, we were invited to one last March. Otherwise I’d be asking the same questions you are (and wondering if Krispy Kreme is open late and then jumping into my car to drive there at 10pm to find out because once you think about Krispy Kreme, you’ve gotta have Krispy Kreme).
But back to the birthday party. For a paltry (by most party place standards) $100, your child can invite 11 of his or her closest friends for a two-hour, well-coordinated, hosted, somewhat-educational, and fun sugar fest. And, if your child has more than 11 friends, additional children are just $5 each (I think…if I remember correctly…having children has destroyed my memory so please check with your local Krispy Kreme for their most current rates).
When we walked in to Krispy Kreme, our party had a reserved section of the “dining area” (Do you really “dine” on donuts? Shouldn’t they rename it the “scarfing area?”). Our table was decorated with plates, napkins, coloring sheets, pens, glitter glue, confetti, and balloons. A “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” game was already set up as was a donut decorating station.
Here’s what’s included for your $100*:
- Invitations
- A two-hour party for up to 12 children
- A host who sets up, leads, and cleans up your party
- Plates, cups, napkins, hats, noise-makers, balloons
- A tour, behind the counter, of the donut-making process
- Pin the Tail on the Donkey
- Decorating one donut per child
- Decorating a coloring sheet with crayons and glitter paints
- One art/craft project
- Drinks for 12 children
- A donut “cake” that includes three dozen donuts piled high with your theme of choice (ours was monster trucks so we also walked away with about 10 monster truck toys)
- Party favor bags for 12 children
The kids had a great time (OK, yes, they were totally sugared up so of course they had a good time) and the activities kept their interest (kids at our party ranged in age from three to seven). The adults enjoyed talking, catching up, and scarfing a few donuts of their own.
For $100 you can’t beat this unique, simple party and, best of all, you don’t have to set up or clean up. It’s best-suited for kids ages 7 and under. Older kids may expect a little more excitement at their party. And the only downside to a birthday party at Krispy Kreme? Especially during this fitness- and diet-concious time of year? The huge number of donuts we ended up taking home with us. Darn. 🙂
